Linggard and Thomas is a team that works with you. Founded by Sam Linggard and Lucy Thomas, our team has the experience to help your grow and succeed.
Samantha (Sam) started her career working in industry and became AAT qualified in 2008, she moved to working in practice in 2011 splitting that time between statutory accounts and management accounts for a variety of clients. After starting her family she made the decision to start her own bookkeeping business in 2016. Starting from scratch Sam grew her business to over 30 clients within 3 years and her work for them varies from weekly payrolls and bookkeeping to VAT returns and Year End Accounts. Sam loves going out and meeting clients on a regular basis and really getting to know how their business works so that she can get a better understanding of what is behind the figures that she prepares.
Outside of work Sam has a busy home life with 3 daughters and 2 dogs, Sam has been known to sign up to the odd half marathon and full marathons, but loves nothing more than a walk on the beach with the dogs.
My favourite part of my role is meeting all of my clients, getting to know the businesses and the people driving them.
Lucy began her training as an accountant with a top 30 firm in Gloucestershire, gaining her AAT and ACCA qualifications during her time there. Shortly after she qualified as a chartered accountant she moved to Cornwall to join one of the South West’s largest accountancy practices. Over the years, as a manager in a large practice she has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. From dealing with client’s compliance work, to helping secure funding to reviewing internal finance procedures. Lucy’s client base has always been diverse and across a number of different industries, she is specialised in assisting SME’s and owner managed businesses.
Outside of work Lucy and her husband are busy renovating their house together. Lucy is also a keen rugby union fan, and regularly enjoys watching a match.
I am excited to use my skill set to help new clients develop and grow their businesses. For me, my clients are more than customers. I want to see them succeed and being part of that process is what I’m passionate about.
Since obtaining her degree in Mathematics in 2013, Courtenay has had a varied career in accountancy. Courtenay started her career working in a small practice following her time at university and became AAT qualified in 2018.
Following this, she moved to a large firm and progressed to being an accounts senior. She has enjoyed working in all areas of the accountancy firm and finds working on payrolls and SME accounts most rewarding.
Courtenay made the decision to join the team at Linggard & Thomas, after starting her family in 2020.
Outside of work, she spends most of her time with her fiancé and two children. They enjoy walking the coast paths of North Cornwall and you can find them regularly cycling the Camel Trail.
I am excited to be part of this amazing business. The ethos they have is so refreshing and I enjoy working alongside Lucy, Sam and team to help grow our clients businesses.
Julie (Jules) started her finance career in a financial institution in the Midlands covering financial and management accounts and treasury management. Then a move to the Southcoast saw her continue the treasury management role with another financial institution followed by a corporate company where her bookkeeping experience spanned into cash manage and reconciliations.
When she started her family she set up as a freelance bookkeeper and gained the necessary qualifications. Once her girls were in school she took employment with an accountancy practice and has been in practice ever since.
In her spare time she enjoy beach days with her family where they bodyboard, surf and paddle board. When not at the beach, you will find her with her nose in a book and coffee in hand.
Jules is a whizz with bookkeeping, VAT returns and loves a good bank reconciliation!
I enjoy working at Linggard and Thomas as the environment is professional but welcoming. The whole team supports one another as well as supporting all of our clients.
Beginning in 2012, Kirsten gained valuable experience at RBC, a leading financial institution. In 2015, she made a deliberate move to focus on bookkeeping, joining a local accountancy practice in Jersey, Channel Islands, where she has worked witha variety of clients, addressing diverse financial needs including administration, VAT, bookkeeping and payroll. Having already gained an IAB qualification, Kirsten continues her professional growth through ongoing studies with AAT.
Having recently relocated to Cornwall in October 2022, Kirsten has worked remotely for an accountancy firm based in London and is eager to apply her experience and knowledge to support local businesses in achieving their goals.
In her spare time, Kirsten enjoys exploring the Cornish coast and getting in the sea for a surf when there is a small wave.
I am thrilled to be working within a friendly team that values client relationships and is willing to go the extra mile to support their clients’ businesses. It is my priority to ensure our clients’ needs are met and provide assurance that their financial matters are in good hands.
Molly discovered her passion for accountancy while studying for her degree in Mathematics at Bath University, where an introductory accounting module sparked her inter field. After graduating in 2023, Molly has been eager to pursue a career in accounting and is excited to start her journey as an apprentice at Linggard & Thomas. With only a small portion of accountancy studied so far, she is enthusiastic about learning more and expanding her skills while studying to achieve her AAT qualifications.
Having grown up in Cornwall, Molly is particularly passionate about supporting local businesses that she admired through the years. Her desire to help smaller businesses thrive is what drew her to our company and this opportunity.
Outside of work, Molly loves staying active and can often be found enjoying a sea swim whenever the Cornish weather allows it.
